Make A Difference in February:

Did you know that there are zero, nada, zilch, not a one homeless shelter in Newport News? That staggering fact has led PORT to partner with churches to help feed and provide shelter for the homeless during the winter months.

On February 12th, PORT will be hosting the homeless at Mosaic in Newport News.  For the fourth year in a row Next Level will be partnering with PORT to make a practical difference in the 757.

Next Level is in charge of making sure our guests have a hot meal and a warm, safe place to sleep.

To make this happen we need the following volunteers

Pre-Shift
Time: 3:00 to 5:30 PM
Volunteers needed: 10, but can take more. This team will help set up, prep food, and clear out rooms for the homeless to sleep in.
Ages: All ages can help for Pre-Shift but children should be supervised by their parents. There is no childcare available.

Shift 1
Time: 5:30 to 9:00 PM
Volunteers needed: 11. Check in the homeless, serve food, hang out and make our guests feel valued.
Ages: Middle school and up

Shift 2
Time: 9:00 PM to 4:45 AM
Volunteers needed: 4. While the homeless sleep this shift will oversee the building. There is a security guard present so all issues will be taken care of by them. This team is designed to be a presence and make sure everything is okay while the homeless sleep.
Ages: Adults only

Shift 3
Time: 4:45 AM to 7:00 AM
Volunteers needed: 9. This shift will serve breakfast and help the homeless check out.
Ages: Adults only.
